How do I move a milestone date?

Last updated Aug 25, 2026

Click Reschedule on the milestone's row, pick the new date, and save. KeyFlow shows you what else moves before you commit, so a cascade never lands as a surprise.

Before you start

  • You cannot reschedule Listing Date or Contract Date here; both are origin events. Edit Contract Date on the Details tab instead, and every computed date follows it automatically. "How do I set key dates and contingencies?" covers that screen.
  • A milestone already marked complete has no Reschedule control.
  • Saving also resets every other milestone you had rescheduled by hand back to its computed date, not only the ones downstream of the one you are moving. "Work a deal down its closing path" covers the full cascade.

Steps

  1. Find the milestone on the Overview tab's closing path timeline and click Reschedule on its row.

    Fictional workspace: synthetic closing path.
The closing path timeline with the Reschedule control highlighted on a milestone row.
  2. Pick the New date. KeyFlow previews the day difference and lists every other date the move pushes, by label, from old value to new. Read that list before saving; a result before the contract date, or a settlement date landing after closing, shows as a warning in the same preview.

  3. Click Save. The date, and everything it moves, becomes permanent, and a line goes into the deal's Activity Log.

What you should see

The milestone's row showing the new date and an edited tag. A digest already sent for this deal keeps the date it printed at send time; only the next one reflects your change.

When it doesn't work

You want the date back the way KeyFlow would compute it. Click Reset next to the edited tag; it clears just that one override, without touching any other milestone on the deal.
