How do I attach documents to a deal?
Last updated Aug 25, 2026
Attach any file, a signed disclosure, an inspection report, a floor plan, to a deal from its Files panel. There is no separate step to share what you upload: if the deal has an active client portal, everything attached here is visible to your client from the moment you upload it.
Before you start
- The transaction must be saved first. The Files icon is there either way, but uploading before the deal has been saved silently does nothing: no error, no file.
- There is no per-file privacy switch. Do not attach a document you want to keep to yourself, such as a personal commission worksheet or an internal referral agreement, to a deal that has an active client portal.
Steps
- Click the document icon in the deal's header, titled Files. It carries a badge with your current file count and sits next to the notes icon.
- In the Transaction Files panel, drag files onto the panel, or click Upload files and choose them from your computer. Multiple files at once work fine.
- To rename a file, click Rename, type the new name, and click Save.
- To remove a file, click Delete. There is no confirmation step, so check the file name before you click it.
What you should see
Uploaded files appear in a list with their size and file type, an Open link to view them, and the file count badge on the Files icon increments.
What your client sees
Every file listed here shows up in the portal's Files column the moment a portal exists for this deal. There is no extra sharing toggle, and no way to attach something that stays agent-only. That matches what the portal already promises: your client's closing timeline, her checklists, and her files, never your other clients' files and never your commission. If a document should stay private, keep it off this deal's file list and send it another way.
