How do I add a milestone that is not in the standard path?
Last updated Aug 25, 2026
Click + Add milestone below the standard closing path, give it a title and a date, and it joins the timeline. It carries no computed date and no cascade: once you save it, it only moves again if you edit it directly.
Before you start
A custom milestone is independent of the standard closing path. It has no computed date, so a later change to Contract Date, or a reschedule elsewhere on the deal, never moves it.
Steps
On the transaction's Overview tab, click + Add milestone below the standard closing path timeline. The Add milestone dialog opens.
Fictional workspace: synthetic closing path. Enter a Title (up to 120 characters) and pick a Date.
Decide whether to turn on Visible to client. It is off by default, and off means only you and your team see the milestone: on the dashboard, in this timeline, and in any milestone digest built from this deal. Turn it on, and the same milestone also reaches the shared client portal, reduced to just its title and date. The toggle is the only thing that decides whether a client-facing reader ever sees it; nothing else about the milestone changes either way.
Click Add milestone to save it.
What you should see
The new milestone in the timeline alongside the standard ones, positioned by its date, carrying the Visible to client state you chose. An Edit control now appears on its row for changing the title, date, or visibility later, and a Delete option asks for confirmation before it removes the milestone.
